We have participated in the Home Show market place since the early 1990's. In the last few years a product called a "pre-fab” has joined the market place.
The pre- fab is built with a metal skeleton and covered with a concrete board skin. On the show room floor the pre- fab looks just like our work. However, it has a definable useable life. It is built in a factory and is delivered on a truck, usually with a crane. They sell "portability".
One limiting factor to the pre- fab is their product is built as a perfect cube. Most surfaces in your yard are sloped to move water away from the pool or the house, etc. Unless the sub surface the pre- fab sets on is perfectly level, the top of the cabinet will be as sloped as the underlying surface.
Obviously, our product when built on site, makes allowances for the underlying surface and the finished top is perfectly level even though the height of the support wall will vary from place to place along the sloped floor.
Without the use of malicious intent and a sledge hammer, our product will last at least as long as your house.
